Fairbanks Youth for Habitat
The Fairbanks Youth for Habitat program is a cooperative project between the US Fish & Wildlife Service and the Fairbanks Soil and Water Conservation district. Students in the program help with wetland restoration projects, assist with fish and wildlife research, and complete community service projects.
Students at right are planting a rain garden they designed to catch and filter run-off from a parking lot. This will improve water quality and the native plants in the garden will attract pollinators. Below: Students install a natural playscape they designed at an urban community center. |
